About Selma, TX - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Selma, Texas is a city positioned in Bexar, Comal, and Guadalupe counties. The city is considered to be a suburb of San Antonio, Texas and is part of the San Antonio Metropolitan Area. Selma was reference by Texas musician Steve Earle in his song Guitar Town. Earle sang “There's a speed trap up ahead in Selma Town,” earning the city the reputation of being home to a speed trap.

Before German pioneers arrived in the 1800s, Selma was home to Native Americans. Eventually, the Harrison and McCulloch Stagecoach Stop was constructed in 1849 and provided transportation for passengers and freight traveling between central, south, and east Texas. The construction attracted many settlers. After the stop opened, the first post office was erected in 1856. More immigrants settled in the city and as a result, general stores, cotton gins, blacksmiths, and other businesses were opened.  Selma was incorporated as a city in 1964 and has experienced significant population growth since. The city has also experienced tremendous business growth along Interstate 35 which runs through the middle of the city. Today, the city is a popular rest stop among individuals traveling between San Antonio and Austin, Texas and is home to about 10,000 people as of the 2016 census.

Selma is located in a climate that experiences very warm summers and mild winters. Daytime temperatures throughout the months of June, July, and August range from the low to mid-90s. On very warm days, temperatures will climb to the low-100s. The location of the city in an extremely warm climate makes it necessary for residents to have cooling systems like central air conditioning units installed in their homes. It is also necessary for residents to have easy access to heating systems. Although Selma generally experiences very mild winters, the city is not located in a climate that is immune to cold snaps. Freezing temperatures and even snow are possible in Selma. This makes it necessary for residents to protect themselves and their homes by hiring professional HVAC technicians to install heat pumps or furnaces. When extreme temperatures are present in the city, efficient heating and cooling systems can literally be lifesavers.
